SHARAY BOYNTON As the nominee to become a director of the Board, Sharay Boynton would be honored to have the opportunity to not only represent District 6 but also serve alongside fellow directors if elected. Sharay graduated from Granbury High School and received her BA in Accounting from Tarleton State University. From 1987-1991, she practiced public accounting in a local metroplex firm specializing in tax planning and received her Certified Public Accountant license in 1989. From 1991 to 2014 she served as the Director of Finance of Granbury ISD. Sharay retired from Birdville ISD as Director of Business in 2021 after serving a total of 30 years in local school districts and Texas charter school business operations. Sharay was married to the late Stephen Boynton for 38 years. They raised their two sons Stoneyand Slade, in Granbury. She has been a continuous member of the United Coop since 1984. Sharay is also the Local Coordinator of the AARP Tax Aide program in Hood County. She also serves as the Treasurer of the Paluxy Baptist Association and is a member of Acton Baptist Church having served as the finance committee chair, mission trip team member and currently various other ministry roles.

Explain how you feel your background and experience will help the cooperative fulfill its mission of providing exceptional service and value to its member-owners.
My 30 years of service to local communities through business leadership of several school districts proves my leadership ability. I have a heart of service for our community. I have had the opportunity to build and monitor multi-million-dollar budgets related to operations and long-term building projects along with financial planning related to both. I understand the importance of operating within the confines of policies and understand that the well-being of the organization as a whole supersedes individual benefits. I have high integrity and expectations of the organizations that I belong to. Exceptional service and value will always be at the forefront of decisions I make while serving on the board.
What avenues do you think United Cooperative Services might explore to make sure that it is seen as being a true asset to the members and communities it serves?
Continue member satisfaction surveys and review of comparisons to similar organizations to ensure that operations are what the member-owners are wanting and needing. Address issues that are brought forward through these processes to ensure that member-owners are always listened to.
Highlight at least one of the seven cooperative principles and its importance to the membership of the cooperative.
Education, Training and Information. Education of all involved; members, elected representatives, managers and employees; is essential to decisions, management, effectiveness and sustainability of future and ongoing operations for the benefit of the cooperation.
List a few important business areas you believe the cooperative needs to be focused on in the next few years and explain why?
Rates for services. With the increased cost of all areas of the economy, we need to be focused on offering the best services at the most economical price for our member-owners.
Operations. The high level of reliable services need to be maintained at the most cost effective level so that the return on investment for the member-owners is the highest that it can be.
Research and Development. Efficient reliable operations need to occur utilizing the most economical and reliable options available. Such practices will keep the organization current and affordable.
