COMMITTEE SEEKS CANDIDATES FOR DISTRICT TWO BOARD OF DIRECTORS POSITION
United Electric Cooperative Service, Inc. (“United”) is searching for qualified candidates to be placed on the ballot by the cooperative’s Committee on Nominations for the 2026 Board of Directors election this fall.
Patsy Dumas’ tenure as District 2 director will conclude at the end of her most recent three-year term. This occurs upon the election of her successor in the Board of Directors election, held in conjunction with the 2026 Annual Meeting, which is scheduled for October.
“I am extremely grateful to have had the privilege to serve the United membership and organization as a director and in the leadership roles of secretary-treasurer, president and vice president,” Dumas said. “While we experienced some significant challenges during my time on the board, we also realized a great many accomplishments while always working every day in the best interest of our members to provide them with exceptional service and value. Though I will miss it, I know the cooperative will continue to put its mission first.”
Dumas has served on the Board of Directors since 1990. She became president in 2014 and vice president in 2024.
The District 2 position will be up for election in October 2026. Per United’s bylaws and board policy, as such when an incumbent director affirms he or she is not seeking re-election to the board, the board president shall appoint a Nominees Search Committee composed of three directors from the board and three members from the area from which the incumbent director not seeking re-election was elected.
The board president shall appoint the three non-director members of the committee in consultation with the incumbent director and the committee. Once the committee has been appointed and ratified by the full board, the search for nominees for consideration by the cooperative’s Committee on Nominations pursuant to Section 4.06 of the bylaws will begin.
The Nominees Search Committee shall vet candidate applications and meet with the board and discuss its recommendations. The board, by an affirmative vote of a majority of the directors, shall, from those individuals recommended by the committee, select not more than three potential nominees to be considered by the Committee on Nominations.
The board shall be the arbiter of any dispute regarding the selection by the board of any potential nominee pursuant to this policy or the qualification of any individuals recommended for consideration by the Committee on Nominations as a potential nominee.
“We are thankful to Patsy Dumas for her dedicated years of service and her leadership on United’s Board of Directors,” said Board President Tommy Cantrell. “We wish her the very best when she departs the board in October 2026, and we are confident that her successor will help our board and organization continue our mission of exceptional service and value.”
The deadline for applications will be 5 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2026. Interested candidates can learn more about candidate participation by contacting United’s Executive Assistant Lindsey Mobley at 817-782-8381.
