Empowering Education at Pleasant View Elementary
With the exception of Pleasant View Elementary, all Godley ISD campuses are located within one mile of each other. A set-up that allows all of the schools to receive their core internet connection through one fiber line.
The recently built Pleasant View Elementary, is located in Silo Mills, 8 miles away from the rest of the Godley ISD campuses. The distance between Pleasant View and the rest of Godley ISD left Marty Oliver, Godley IT Director, at a loss when it came to figuring out how to get the same quality service to their new school.
United was able to create a plan that would allow the fiber to run to their new elementary and connect back to the other campuses while still delivering the quality, high-speed internet they needed for their 500 students.
“It’s been super seamless; it was a project that we really didn’t have to think about. They stepped in, got the fiber in place, and brought us to a level that functions just like its apart of our core campuses. It solved a problem for us that was massive for us with ease,” said Oliver.
Pleasant View STEM teacher, Kristen Jenkins explained that they need the internet for lesson plans, important communication with parents and other teachers, chrome books, and more, so when they lacked reliable internet, it led to mass chaos.
Now that they have United, she said it's seamless and everything goes a lot smoother knowing that the internet will always be up and ready to go when the kids get to class. She explained that having a connection they can rely on helps the students focus on the lessons instead of stressing over their programs not loading. It also gives teachers access to the information and messages they need when they need it.
“Now we have all the things we need at all times at the click of a button because it’s fast and available,” said Jenkins.
