BURLESON—Police shut down northbound and southbound lanes of I-35W April 6 as workmen literally ran fiber-optic cable across the main thoroughfare in Burleson.
The entire process, which was performed three times that day, took fewer than 10 minutes.
During the process, steel a steel wire called a strand is run across the highway. Then, workmen bring the fiber-optic cable, which is then lashed to the strand with a special machine.
The process will help feed high-speed internet service throughout the eastern half of United's service territory.
