BURLESON—Workmen from R.J. Carroll Co. lit the first beta testers of United's high-speed internet service in a Burleson neighborhood.
Rick and Tricia Van Weezel became the first household to experience fiber to the home.
Tricia said she and her husband experienced a whole new realm of internet speed immediately.
"Let's put it this way," she said. "In a matter of minutes, it was something we didn't notice anymore. We immediately started taking our internet for granted. There were no hiccups. No speed issues. No circles spinning on the TV. No lagging of email. We just didn't notice that anymore, which is what you do with a utility. And let's face it. The internet is now a utility. You can't really live without it."
